How to send payment reminders on WhatsApp
A short, polite WhatsApp reminder with the invoice number and amount gets seen — and a button lets the customer pay or ask a question in one tap.
Short answer
Create a Utility template such as “Invoice {{invoice_number}} for {{amount}} is due on {{due_date}}”, add a Visit website button to your payment page, and get it approved. Then upload an Excel file with one row per customer (number, name, invoice, amount, due date) in Lead Pattern Broadcasts, match columns to variables and send now or schedule. Each reminder costs about ₹0.115 at Meta's utility rate in India.
Step by step
How to do it in Lead Pattern
1
Write the reminder template
Copy one from our payment reminder templates — due soon, due today, overdue — and choose the Utility category.
2
Add buttons
A Visit website button for your payment page, and a quick reply like “Talk to accounts” for questions.
3
Prepare the list
One row per customer: phone number with country code, name, invoice number, amount and due date.
4
Send or schedule
Upload the file, match columns to variables, and send now or schedule — for example a few days before, on, and after the due date.
5
Handle replies
Replies land in the shared inbox. Assign them to accounts so every question gets an answer.
Questions people ask
What should a payment reminder WhatsApp message say?+
Greet the customer by name, give the invoice number, amount and due date, and add a way to pay or ask a question. Example: “Hi {{name}}, a friendly reminder that invoice {{invoice_number}} for {{amount}} is due on {{due_date}}.”
Is a payment reminder Marketing or Utility?+
A reminder about a specific invoice or account is Utility — about ₹0.115 per message in India. Meta decides the final category from the content.
Can each customer get their own amount?+
Yes. Broadcast from an Excel file: each row fills the template with that customer's own invoice, amount and due date.
Can I schedule reminders in advance?+
Yes. Schedule each broadcast for the date and time you want; you can pause or cancel it before it starts.
